Image Files Describe Appearance
PNG and JPG files describe how an image looks. Vector files describe graphic shapes. None of those formats, by themselves, tell an embroidery machine how to form the design with thread.
The embroidery information has to be created in digitizing software.
Digitizing Chooses Stitch Construction
A narrow border may become satin, a large area may become fill and a fine line may become a run stitch. Underlay and density are selected for each object.
Those choices cannot be read directly from the color of a pixel.
Digitizing Controls Fabric Movement
Compensation, sequence and stitch direction help manage the way thread pulls on the garment. The same AI artwork may need different files for a cap, polo and jacket.
This is why a machine file should be built around the actual application.
Automatic Conversion Is Not the Same as Production Review
Software can automatically create stitches from artwork, but the result still has to be checked for small details, excessive density, long jumps, hidden overlaps and garment behavior.
Professional digitizing is the process of making those production decisions deliberately.
The Final Sew Out Is the Real Test
An on screen preview can help, but thread, needle, fabric, backing and machine tension only come together during the sew out. Testing confirms whether the digitized interpretation works in the physical world.
