Why Naan Designs Uses Melco DesignShop

Naan Designs primarily works in Melco DesignShop because OFM is important to our Melco focused digitizing workflow. A native working file can preserve information that a basic stitch file does not.

That does not make every other software package wrong. It means our main production knowledge and editable OFM service are built around the Melco ecosystem.

Native OFM Is the Major Difference

Melco states that DesignShop is the software that creates OFM files. OFM can preserve wireframe editing information along with production related data such as color and machine settings.

That is fundamentally different from a machine stitch file such as DST, which is focused on stitch commands rather than the original editable construction.

DesignShop 12 Levels

DesignShop 12 is offered in multiple levels, including Lettering, Editor, Vector and Professional. The appropriate level depends on whether the user needs lettering, editing, vector work or complete professional digitizing.

File Support

DesignShop supports common embroidery and artwork formats in addition to OFM. Melco lists formats such as DST, EXP, PES and limited EMB import support among its current capabilities.
