Preparing Print Ready Files

Submitting the correct file format ensures your project prints perfectly the first time. Whether for screen printing, DTF, DTG, sublimation, or UV printing, clean vector files save time, prevent delays, and guarantee professional results.

✅ File Format

  • Use vector formats: AI, EPS, PDF
  • Outline all fonts (convert to paths)
  • Embed or include linked raster images

🎨 Color Mode

  • Set to CMYK for full-color printing
  • Use spot colors for screen printing separations
  • Avoid RGB unless for digital mockups only

📏 Size & Resolution

  • Design at actual print size (e.g., 12" × 12")
  • Raster images: minimum 300 DPI at full size
  • For DTG/DTF: keep transparent PNG at 300 DPI

🔠 Fonts & Text

  • Convert all fonts to outlines or paths
  • Embed fonts if sending editable files
  • Avoid small text below 8pt for screen printing

🗂 File Format Comparison

Format Best Use Editable?
AI (Adobe Illustrator) Industry standard for vector editing Yes
EPS Universal vector format for printers Yes
PDF Great for sharing + preserving design integrity Yes
PNG Best for DTF/DTG prints (transparent background) No
JPG Mockups only (not print ready) No

Vector Files for Printing

Vector files are the gold standard for USA printing companies. Unlike raster images (JPG, PNG), vectors scale infinitely without losing quality. This makes them essential for screen printing, DTF/DTG printing, and UV printing.

  • AI (Adobe Illustrator) — best for editing and print setup.
  • EPS — universal format for printers, widely accepted.
  • PDF — reliable for sharing, preserves vector paths and text.

If your artwork is in JPG or PNG, it’s not truly print ready. In that case, vector art conversion is required to create clean, scalable files that meet print industry standards.
