Start With the Final Size
Before deciding what to remove, view the artwork at approximately the size it will be embroidered. Details that are barely visible on screen at that size are unlikely to become clearer when made from thread.
A left chest version may need much more simplification than a jacket back version.
Identify the Parts That Make the Image Recognizable
Preserve the main outline, primary symbols, facial or object features that define the subject and any required wording.
Background noise and tiny decorative marks usually matter less than the overall silhouette.
Rebuild Important Text
Do not trust AI generated lettering without checking every character. Recreate names, dates and slogans using clean artwork or an appropriate embroidery lettering method.
Small text may need a simpler font or larger size.
Reduce Unnecessary Color Transitions
An AI image can contain dozens or hundreds of subtle color values. Embroidery uses physical thread colors, and every additional color can add machine changes and production time.
Choose color groups that preserve depth without trying to imitate every pixel.
Strengthen Fine Shapes
Thin outlines, tiny gaps and narrow objects may need to be widened or converted to a different stitch type. Some isolated details can be represented with a run stitch while others should be removed.
The digitizer should make these choices based on the garment and finished size.
Approve the Embroidery Interpretation
Customers should understand that the embroidery version is an interpretation of the AI artwork, not a microscopic copy. Reviewing the simplified artwork or sew out helps set realistic expectations.
