If you need native OFM files for a Melco workflow, DesignShop deserves special consideration because Melco states that it is the software that creates OFM. If your workflow depends on EMB, professional Wilcom tools may be more relevant.
Do not buy software first and discover later that it cannot create the editable file your business expects.
Decide Whether You Need True Manual Digitizing
Some programs focus mainly on lettering, editing or converting existing files. A full digitizer needs control over object shapes, stitch types, underlay, density, compensation, entry and exit points and sequence.
Check the exact product level because software families often sell several tiers.
Consider Who Will Use It
A full time professional digitizer and a home business owner may need very different interfaces, training and production features. More complexity is not useful if the user never needs the advanced tools.
